Your story resonated with mine. I always made jokes about how my parents never got to boast the baby finally slept through the night. Always a light sleeper, I changed to a full blown insomniac several years ago, and I took the route you did: roll with it and enjoy it. A voracious reader, I did much of my reading overnight. My doctor disagreed when I said I wasn't suffering for it. Insomnia plus several other symptoms and a few lab tests showed I have Hashimoto thyroiditis. He put me on thyroid hormone and there went my hobby.
